The Ghost Lights

The Ghost Lights were created as part of a series of designs merging the craft of glass-blowing with a modern approach to sustainable lighting design. A form was created that allows for a variety of lighting conditions through the manipulation of the lamp’s position. A variety of glass compositions and cold-working techniques were used to alter the passage of light through the glass. The forms were carved in foam and then cast in plaster to create the molds. The pieces were then mold-blown into the plaster casts using several different combinations of white and clear glass. Finally, the pieces were cold-worked into their final forms and sand-blasted to achieve a range of finishes.

This project was done in collaboration with Sam Brissette and Laurence Sarrazin.
