CNC Foam Model for Cast Glass

Designer and glassblower Andrew O. Hughes approached us for help in producing a model to be used in creating a kiln cast glass piece. The model was cut on the CNC router in blue foam (rigid polystyrene insulation). Hughes then used that form as the positive in the creation of the plaster mold he used for the kiln casting. The translucent gray glass alterpiece was produced for Calvin Klein Home, and can be purchased at their Madison Avenue location. Images of casting process provided by Andrew O. Hughes.
